SCIENCE FAIR 2009!

We had a busy week last week. It was the last session with the JEP volunteer students from USC. The wonderful thing about being across the street from a major university is that you get some pretty amazing young people coming to volunteer. We had a great group this year and last Monday, our Health for Life group, presented each child with a certificate.  I also had six freshmen/sophomore USC students volunteer their time in the classroom, and 2 incredible student teachers the first half as well. How lucky are my students?  Our annual science fair was last week, followed immediately by Open House. I am glad we are in MAY now!

Bright smiles from our future!
Getting ready for science fair "judging"
Students explaining their inquiry actitivties...
describing how seeds can grow without soil...
my friend Vicky stopped by to check things out
and ended up being one of the judges...
Chaz, 5th grader, my former 1st grader,
is an honorary  judge for the day...
Guess where teachers/staff go before Open House?

mmmm....strawberry banana rendez vous sans the nasty little white chocolate chips because when they get cold they're a hassle to chew on.

Yummy.
