PBS KIDS ROCK!

I will pose with a horse, but I will not get on the horse no matter how much mommy begs me to get on so she can take a picture of me on a horse. NOPE, not going to happen!
There is something very scary about a boy holding his DS above a pool of water...
We love WORD GIRL! Word up!
Mommy is a SID THE SCIENCE KID GROUPIE!
Nicholas and I can roar like a lion...ROAR!!!
Look at me! I am coordinated!
Mommy had lunch with her former student Dulce today... and dessert too! Dulce works at the Men's Central Jail... ooooooooooo, she's so cool!

Touching a live Seastar!

I can hula... yes, I can!

The Best Kool-Aid Playdough Recipe!

1 cup of flour
1/2 salt
3T oil
1-2 pkg. unsweetened kool-aid

1 cup of boiling water

Mix the flour and salt toget
her in one bowl. Mix the boiling water and kool-aid together, add the oil. Then blend all ingredients together. Mix and use hands to knead. Store in a ziploc baggie. Enjoy!

We are beginning our science unit with a focus on the inquiry skills. The focus for September has been using our five sense to observe. I found this recipe online and liked it because it looked similar to one I use to make years ago (cooked). Not sure how it would turn out... and I did not try it out ahead of time like what a good teacher should do. I listed and showed each ingredient and asked students what they thought we would make.

Cookies, cake, bananas, and ice cream were some of the responses. My favorite response came from Anthony, who commented "It can't be ice cream! There's no milk in it!"... well there aren't bananas either. I love kinder thoughts and reasoning! So creative. I doubled the recipe and the playdough came out great!

A WICKED NIGHT OUT!

Alexandra, Daniel, and AJ enjoyed the show... and conversations during the show trying to figure out what was happening and making comments on the "kissing" parts! That's my boy!
A great picture after the show with friends Jason, Jacob, and mommy Vanessa!
What is up with the open mouth? Is it a boy thing? Seven year old thing? Or just Daniel thing?
Bea doesn't want mommy Jill to speak her secrets. Looks like a familiar scene.
Open mouths again! We all enjoyed the show and Daniel was amazed by the tricks that were played on us. And got a kiss from Alexandra too! "I kissed her on the cheek too. That's okay mom, we are friends and friends can do that."

A BUSY WEEKEND...

It's just another weekend in the life of an active 7 year old child who refuses to brush his teeth at night, makes constant demands on his mommy, and thinks he has it tough!

Hangin' out on Friday night with Lucy...
Hanging out with MJ "selling" water at the PTA USC football game fundraiser...
Okay, now I am working! We made over $1,200 for the school. Go PTA!
Dim Sum Sunday morning with PoPo, Auntie Vickie's family, and
of course Auntie Vickie and Uncle Wayne.
Trying to convince mommy that I will really, truly put the giant lego set together all by myself, even though I have never done it before... really, truly... (no, mommy didn't get it for me. She said she would take a picture of it for my birthday wishlist).
Singing with the Wildcats at California Adventures, but I don't dance...Look! It's Lightning McQueen at the Pixar Parade! Yes, my life is tough and I have a mean mommy!

LOVEBUG...

And now a version of our favorite Jonas Brothers song,
"Lovebug" by someone who thinks he can just play
the guitar without learning how to play the guitar.

Labor Day

Gathering sand to make sand rocks.
Posing with Popo and her new outfit...
that she modified herself turning a long skirt into walking shorts.
There is a method to building sand rocks...
Mommy wondering what the heck sand rocks are...
These are sand rocks! When they dry, they will
be as hard as a rock.  Really, believe it!
(Unfortunately, they did not survive the trip home)
