A VERY COOL MORNING...

Jennifer, Kim, and I pose with Jack O'Connell,
the CA Superintendent of Schools

Some cool 5th graders at Solano getting ready to play for us!

And the winner is.....

The best thing about being a Milken Educator is that you get invited to attend the notification of Milken Educators! It's always exciting, extremely fun (because you know what is going to happen, but the educator that is going to be named hasn't a clue!), and very emotional. I got to spend this morning witnessing two teachers pick up their "big" checks for $25,000. It brought back happy and surreal memories from 2002.

Both teachers taught at high performing schools in tight-knit neighborhoods hidden away from the big city. The first one had a farm, wonderful garden, and inspiring school song too! The second one has a student population of less than 300 with an API in the 900's! Amazing schools, amazing educators! I have to admit, I really love being a teacher!

It seems like a fairy tale that school. A FARM? Uhh..I'll pass on that, but I'll take the API in the 900s.
