ONE BUSY DAY IN ROOM 3

Look, there was a sign of winter on my lawn this morning!  Everyone else is getting snowed in, so I wanted to show that we in CA are also getting white stuff! It was a nice way to wake up to the last day before winter break!
How lucky are we to be walking distances from the California Science Center and the wonderful scientists that work there. Today Jen came in and did "magic" with the kids. Here she is filling a cup with water and poking a hole in it... but no liquid came out! Wow!  We learned that there was some substances in the cup that "absorbed"(-scientists don't use the word suck) the liquid. It's the same substance that is used in diapers. COOL!
We added water to the powder and it expanded and made SNOW!
Then Jen gave each of us a special pet. If you put the fish on your hand it will curl it's tail! Magic! Or is it the special paper's reaction to the liquid in our hands? Hmmmmmm?
It was also Pajama Day! Yay! We have been waiting for it all school year and finally on the coldest day of the year, we get to wear our pajamas! Um, Miss Fung did not brave the cold. She said she didn't have pajamas that matched and the line at the Mervyn's was too long to stand in to buy the 80% off robe and flannel set. Whatever! We looked cute! (so did the boys)
It was also the last day for our wonderful student teachers from USC, Miss Won and Miss Chang. We are sad to see them go, but we know they will make some students very happy next fall when they have their own classrooms.  Here we are watching them open the book we made them and the book, Big Words for Little People. We added our own words for them!
SMILE!
After a nice lunch with our Reading Buddies, we took them to the Natural History Museum's Discovery Center. It's a wonderful place to observe and explore things! Here is Melvin with his buddy wearing real animal fur.
We ended our day with a princess cake for Miss Chang and Miss Won! We like cake!
