No school is perfect, but some schools are just more special than others. White House Place Primary Center was where I learned to teach. I spent 11 years there learning and teaching PK-2nd grade students. White House Place was where I become a grant writer, a muralist, a workshop presenter, a demo teacher, a master teacher, a mentor, and National Board Certified. It was also the place where I met some of the most incredible, committed, dedicated, and collaborative educators. The Early Literacy Club (ELC) was formed because we wanted, needed, to collaborate to be better educators for our students. We were awarded grants, recognized in publications, and cited in a teacher research book. But the best thing about working at White House Place were the friendships made. How cool is it to get to work with people you admire as educators and also call your friends. It was pretty cool. I am glad we get to reconnect, if only once a year.
The sad news is that they (LAUSD) are planning to tear the school down at the end of next school year. It's going to be tough to say goodbye. We need to go back and celebrate one more time before it's gone.
Beautiful Emma and her beautiful mommy...
This is where they seat you after you wait for over an hour.
Hey it's Daniel's (JB, HSM) Posse, Natalie and Alexandra!
What an amazing group of educators and friends! How lucky am I?
