The space shuttle (orbiter) Endeavour finally arrives in Los Angeles.
We are excited because my school is next door to the California Science Center where it will be
housed and on display. Many of my friend from the CSC have been working hard for weeks planning
for it's arrival. The great thing about our school is the kids and teachers get to take it all in first hand!
Bryce's class makes shuttles!
The kids wait on the yard for the fly over!
Not the best view, but definitely super cool!
Not everyday you see a 747 carrying a space shuttle on it's back!
My students' art work.
I wanted to take the boys to watch the shuttle arrive in Exposition Park on Saturday night.
The journey was delayed until 1:00am (it actually didn't arrive until the late afternoon the following morning). We decided to be adventurous and hope on the Metro to walk to the Endeavour parked at the Crenshaw Mall instead. Grabbed our buddies AJ and Xaveer, along with their mom with us!
Waiting for the Metro and dressed in Movers jumpsuit!

Riding in public transportation is rare in LA.
First Metro ride for Xaveer.
The boys and I!
Not everyday there is a shuttle just sitting on the street corner near the Krispy Kremes.

On the way home with a stop at Yum Yum Donuts!
Two weeks later, it was preview day at the California Science Center!
Touching the tires that have been to space!
Hanging with my buddy Aidan!
Aidan's mom couldn't ride because she was pregnant, so guess who scored seats on the shuttle ride?!
Mae Jemison's crew!
We invited Grandma Kathy to join us for the day.
Shuttle Engine!
Hey, it's our friend Samuel!
And there was free, huge chocolate chip cookies,
which Bryce likes to wear on his face!

Bryce and his beautiful teacher and pal Emma!
He really liked the chocolate chip cookies!
Thanks to Romy, I had a teacher's night at the Endeavour!
We like to touch wheels that have been to space too!
Good friends from WHPPC!
Then we went back to attend Space Fest!
Here we are with Dr. Mae Jemison, first woman of color
in space at her lecture. And yes, Bryce is in his suit again!
This time we took Vanessa and her boys with us! Love them!
Big boys like to touch the wheels too!

Meeting Astronaut Danny Corwin
A dream to meet Teacher in Space Barbara Morgan.
Who inspired us at a staff meeting. She was the runner up
to Christa Mcguliffe on Challenger. It was an amazing week!
