So this month has been filled with stress and emotions... all for the love of a most wonderful two year old. I have been fostering Bryce since February and everything seemed to be going along. His mother and I had developed a cordial relationship. If she got her act together I would support his transition back. If things didn't work out, then we would go forward with adoption. Then in the middle of July, there was a family in Tennessee (a second cousin) that showed up wanting Bryce to be placed with them. He has never met them before and hasn't see his mother in over 30 years. They hired an attorney and asked for a special court hearing in mid-July. With the support of my social worker, Carole, I got through the hearing (where they asked for a trial to present their case for placement in August). Although everyone said it won't happen, it was still very unnerving. I have already fallen in love with him and he is just beginning to make progress and feel safe and secure. Still working on attachment issues, but we were coming along. Keeping fingers crossed that the judge will do the right thing for Bryce.
